I believe in compassionate care that listens, understands, and empowers patients to lead fulfilling lives.

I came to the United States with my family from Kenya in 2006. Adjusting was not easy, but I managed to make it work as a full-time mother, student, and employee. I earned my nursing degree, then pursued a career as a nurse practitioner, and am now actively pursuing my Doctorate in Nursing.

In my journey to adjusting as an immigrant, I noticed that there were many people in a similar situation as mine - struggling to make ends meet and adjusting to a new world. They were struggling with anxiety disorders, https://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/topics/anxiety-disorderslow self-esteem, hopelessness, and a fear of the unknown. They also lacked someone to talk to, as they were afraid of judgment from their community. The goal was to make sure that if anyone found themselves in that situation, I would be a resource.

I am also a rare cancer survivor. In March 2011, I was diagnosed with a rare cancerous Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST). I was still a full-time nursing student while going through chemotherapy and surgery.
Through the grace of God, I found myself surviving and thriving beyond my diagnosis. This is why I believe in healing, not only through pharmaceuticals but also inclusion of nonconventional means such as personal care, wellness, nutrition, and religion https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7817073/
