Veronica Kamau, BSN, MSN, PMHNP-BC
I believe in treating patients as humans, not bodies, that need to be listened to, understood, and treated with respect, dignity and humanity to help them live fulfilling lives.

I came to the United States from Kenya with my family in 2006. Adjusting was not easy, but I made it work being a full-time mother, student and employee. I went to school for my nursing degree, then nurse practitioner degree and now I am actively pursuing my Doctorate in Nursing.

In my journey to adjusting as an immigrant, I noticed that there were many people in a similar situation as mine - struggling to make ends meet and adjusting to a new world. They were struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, hopelessness and having a fear of the unknown. They also did not have anyone to talk to as they were afraid of judgement from their community. The goal was to make sure if anyone found themselves in that situation, that I would be a resource.

I am also a rare cancer survivor. In March 2011, I was diagnosed with a rare cancerous Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST).I still was a fulltime nursing student while going through chemotherapy and surgery.
Through the grace of God, I found myself surviving and thriving beyond my diagnosis. This is why I believe in healing, not only through pharmaceuticals but also inclusion of nonconventional means such as personal care, wellness, nutrition and religion.

If you find yourself struggling with depression, anxiety feeling stuck and unsure on how to move on- you can make it. Reach out and lets figure out a solution.

I have had the pleasure of working as an RN for seven years. I have worked as a nurse manager in Maryland, focusing on clients deemed incompetent to stand trial. I have also worked with clients dealing with acute mental illness, drug addiction and experiencing homelessness.

In my role as a provider, I have experience evaluating and recommending neuro medication including Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT).
I am able to help with diagnosis evaluations and medication management of a variety of mental health needs from anxiety, to ADHD and provide supportive psychotherapy to adults.
